A new support group will be starting January 7th, 2010 in Cloverdale. This meeting will be the first Thursday of the month, and run year long except for the months of July and August. It will be held at the public library in Cloverdale, 5642 – 176 A Street, second floor from 6:30 – 8:30. This meeting is open to adoptees, birth/natural parents and adoptive parents. Those in a supportive role are also welcome to attend. For more information please contact Marnie Tetz, marnietetz@shaw.ca or 604-535-4434

At long last (and after several technical difficulties,) the first two of the AAC videos are live on YouTube – today! We currently have two slideshows on YouTube with two more to come in the fall. Currently, “Adoption & Truth” about adoptees’ need to know where they come from, and “Birth Mothers Never Forget” are posted. We will announce that they are live in The Beacon on Friday but I wanted to make sure you knew in advance of the official announcement.

A new Survey has been added to our website, and we'd like to hear what you think.

Should children conceived by donated sperm have the same rights to records as adoptees?

The Adoptees Association is a not-for-profit organization whose intent is to serve the interests of adopted people. We currently provide a venue for the exchange of ideas and support, referrals to counselling and advocacy services, guest speakers, panels, reading lists and website links. We welcome ideas on other services we can provide that may be of value to the community. One of our goals is to have a permanent resource centre including a lending library.
