yes, definitely! why is there is a question at all.

It is sad how little the 'system' has learned about the plight of children.  When will the facist regime that controls this country learn that social engineering (oppression) comes at such a terrible cost.  Part of the problem is that we (adoptees) do not pose a threat the stability of the fabric of the system.  The only time the government and officals pay attention is when they are threatened by unrest or a loss of power.  Until that day comes they will simply ignore the plight of children.

What about the rights of donated sperms :-)

Here we go again concentrating on the needs of some child that has no rights in our society and who never will.  Let's concentrate on what society has always been good at - marketing and keeping government costs down while the rights of an adult male prevail until Hell freezes over.

In my view (as an adopted person) we should not be trying to reform human rights legislation by using the hard earned yet mixed bag of concessions gained from governments responsible for adoption as the objective in this matter.

The objective should be to get truly equal rights for all children from conception through to adult status.  Every step in the process should be identified to eliminate the current domination of adult rights OVER children.

The current adoption requires governments to use their power to legislate criminal activities into a "legal" adoption process.  Let's not accept the current adoption system as an icon for anything to shoot for...just to shoot at!

"For the sake of the child" - truly...not just as another government media hype slogan

Sperm donation and access to records

I believe that children conceived from outside sources (sperm donation) should have access to these records.  I'm an adoptee and up until recently considered my birth father the sperm donator because he had no other participation except conception...think about it...these kids aren't much different than me.  Why should these children be treated any differently.  The one benefit they have is they are still with their birth mother.  And hopefully the have had some great conversations about why their parents chose sperm donation.

I have friends that chose this route but unfortunately they didn't tell the children how they were conceived, nor do they plan to.  I think this is just horrible.

Everyone should have access to their records no matter whether the sperm was supplied naturally or through medical intervention.

I think this is a no

I think this is a no brainer, of course children conceived by donated sperm should have the same rights as an adoptee.  They have every right to know who their father is and what genetic and biological background they come from.  Their heredity is just as important as anyone elses.  It's actually sad that we ask if they should have the same rights to records as adoptees, because in Canada only 4 provinces allow those adopted to have their records, and only if there has been no veto filed.  So in reality adoptees in general don't have many rights at all, and perhaps those conceived through sperm donation may in the end have even more rights.

My thoughts,
